Citizenship, Migration and the City (CIMIC)

The research group Citizenship, Migration & the City (CIMIC) studies the reshaping of citizenship in the context of the increased mobility of persons and populations. CIMIC analyses the social consequences of globalization in terms of new patterns of migration and citizenship and in terms of new configurations of urban spaces and recalibrations of nation-states.

Programme director

Godfried Engbersen is Professor of Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is also the Research Director of the Sociology Department and Director of the interdisciplinary research group Citizenship, Migration & the City (CIMIC) at EUR.
