José Nederhand is Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her main research interests are collaborative governance, co-production and community-based nonprofits.

Her work has been published in renowned public administration journals, such as Policy Sciences, Public Management Review and Administration & Society. Furthermore, she has received various awards for her work, such as the Osborne Best Paper Award and the Prof. H.W. Lambersprijs.

She is involved in the program management of the interdisciplinary Vital Cities and Citizens (VCC) research program in which multiple faculties collaborate to improving the quality of life in cities and increase the social and economic impact of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

She holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Research Master's degree in Media Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
