Harrie de Swart is Professor in Logic at Erasmus School of Philosophy. 

Professor De Swart studied Mathematics and Physics at Nijmegen University. He obtained his PhD in Nijmegen in 1976, with a dissertation on the Foundations and Philosophy of Mathematics, in particular Intuitionism. He spent the academic year 1976-1977 as Visiting Fellow at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science of Princeton University. From 1980 till 2009 Professor De Swart was full professor in Logic and Language Analysis at Tilburg University.

His areas of expertise include Logic, Foundations and Philosophy of Mathematics; Intuitionism; Artificial Intelligence (automated reasoning); Social Choice Theory, Election mechanisms; Fallacies and unfair methods of discussion.

Over the years Professor De Swart has taught many courses: logic, set theory, intuitionism, logic at work, databases, prologue, modal/epistemic logic, conditionals, philosophy of mathematics, non-monotonic logic, reasoning about knowledge, logic and computer science, logics for Artificial Intelligence and Social Choice Theory.
