Graduate School appoints dr. Fadi Hirzalla as course consultant

During the last couple of months you may have seen a new face in our Graduate School, dr. Fadi Hirzalla. Fadi has joined the Graduate School team to assess the methodology and methods needs of our PhD candidates and their supervisors, and to develop and deliver a set of new courses.

Fadi will focus on developing additional introductory, intermediate and advanced courses, as well as workshops on uncommon or new methods, such as: peer-to-peer research, photo and music voice or qualitative comparative analysis. Currently, the new PhD course "Introduction to Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA)" and the workshop "Introduction to participatory research method Photovoice" are already available.

Fadi obtained his PhD degree in 2011 with a comparative study of young people’s civic uses of the internet. He masters a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and has a background in political science, media studies and digital culture.

Previously, he worked at the universities of Amsterdam and Utrecht. He thus has the ideal multidisciplinary profile that typifies our School. In addition, he currently also works as a coordinator of the Knowledge Lab Urban Big Data in which the EUR and the city of Rotterdam collaborate.
