EGSH Poll results: keep or abolish cum laude graduation for PhD candidates?

Last September we sent out a poll asking our academic community whether they would prefer to keep or abolish cum laude graduation for PhD candidates. The results are now available.

We received 138 responses from PhD candidates, and an additional 55 responses from supervisors of PhD candidates.

About 59% of the PhD candidates and 51% of the supervisors were in favour of abolishing cum laude graduation; 36% of the PhD candidates and 47% of the supervisors were in favour of keeping it; and the remaining respondents indicated they had no opinion on this matter.
