EGSH professors discussed diversity and inclusion in supervision
At the invitation of the Dean of the Graduate School, supervisors from all our faculties joined in an informal conversation about the benefits and challenges of supervising PhD researchers from different educational and national backgrounds. The number of participants was limited to 12 to facilitate the exchange of experiences and solutions. The range of stories was wide, but a common conclusion was that reflexivity on one’s own practices and a willingness to discuss them is one crucial factor in working with a diversity of PhD researchers.
The conversation is part of the efforts of the Graduate School to bring supervisors together more regularly, around issues of common interest or concern. The previous episode was about organising Shut-Up-And-Write Sessions. We warmly invite suggestions for future episodes!
