We would like to remind our students that it is still possible to enroll in the following EGS3H courses:
Academic writing for PHD students
This course will cover the following subjects:
- Formal versus informal vocabulary
- Paragraph writing en Cohesive devices
- Tenses in both Active/Passive forms
- Adjectives and adverbs
The course consists of 6 sessions (plus one individual session), on Mondays starting 18/2 – 1/4. Time: 09.30 – 12.30 hrs. The costs are €375 per person. Students can enroll themselves via http://www.eur.nl/english/ltc/employees/courses/english/acwr_phd/
A second series of this course in Academic writing for PHd-ers will take place in May. (to be announced in March)
PhD library module Information Literacy Skills
This module deals with the question how to effectively and efficiently search, find, evaluate & reuse (scholarly) information. For more detailed information and a link to the enrollment page look here.
As can be read in the description, Gusta Drente, working at the University Library as Liaison Librarian Social Sciences, offers a programme where the exact topics will defined in a later phase, after the enrollment.
In the Workshop RefWorks you get a quick start on how to use RefWorks, a web-based reference manager. Topics covered are:
- Importing references from UL-databases into RefWorks,
- Managing your references, by creating folders,
- Creating bibliographies and
- Using Write-N-Cite, a tool to make citations or footnotes in a Word-document
